NetComm Learning Centre

Aim of the Learning Centre

The aim of the Learning Centre is to provide the background information that is essential for understanding PC networking, the Internet, and broadband connections, for non-specialist users.

Intended Audience

The Internet has gone from nowhere to everywhere in a generation. From it's obscure beginnings in 1968 to its current and ever-growing popularity, the Internet is changing entertainment, education, business, the arts, and almost every other facet of society.

If you know how it all works, skip this website. If, however, you suddenly find yourself connected to it, working on it, maybe shopping, talking or researching on it, this site will provide a series of coherent backgrounders to help you get the Big Picture. Specifically, if you have a broadband network, this site will provide vital background on how it all fits together.

Range of Information

The Learning Centre provides a range of articles, tutorials and interactive quizzes ranging from introductory to advanced level. Subject areas are divided into Realms, on the right. The introductory articles cover the basics of the topics and are aimed at the average user who wants to know more about networking and the Internet.

Netcomm's broadband tutorials can be accessed via the Tutorials button on the right. These are intended to provide orientation and essential knowledge for ISP, distributor and reseller staff. Registration is free and can be requested through email on that page.

Learning Centre Approach

The Learning Centre will aim to provide 'just enough knowledge' to provide an understanding of the key subjects, very much from the perspective of those needing to use this technology in day-to-day life and work, but without specialist IT or engineering skills.
