Guest Internet - Caravan Park

With over 75% of Australias population using the Internet, today's traveller on the move requires the access to the Internet wherever they are. Caravan Parks need a wireless Internet network to provide guest Internet access.

Wireless means less infrastructure and less cost. The solution is a NetComm Hotspot.

What is a hotspot?

A Hotspot is a term that is used to describe public spaces that are equipped with wireless Internet access. It is a location where you can connect to the Internet with your own Wi-Fi, or wireless-equipped device, such as a notebook computer.

NetComms Hotspot solutions are wireless gateways that come with built-in accounting, authentication and access (AAA). The hotspot connects to a modem and to your broadband connection, and will broadcast a wireless signal that provides Internet connection for up to 100 users at a time from a single location.

For venues that already have a broadband internet connection, offering wireless access is as simple as purchasing one of our wireless access point devices and it becomes an easy way to turn an existing expense into profit and to offer a new service to your customers.

How do I use the hotspot

The NetComm Hotspot comes with a built-in accounting and billing system that allows you to sell Internet access in blocks of minutes, hours or days. You set the rate, you sell the time and you collect the cash. A printer is included and is used to generate user names and passwords and to print receipts. The three buttons correlate to three time and price settings, these are flexible and you choose what you would like to charge and for how much time. To ensure fast and efficient processing of sales you dont have to worry about calculating costs, just punch the buttons for the required amount of access time and out prints the receipt which includes user name, password, time purchased and price.

How do my customers use my hotspot?

NetComms Hotspots take advantage of IP Plug and Play technology, which instantly recognises a new user and all of their computers settings (TCP/IP configurations). The users connect is setup automatically, which means your customers do not need to adjust the settings or alter the configuration of their wireless Notebook or handheld PDA. The customer will be prompted for a username and password to get access. Once this is entered they can use the internet until the time that they have purchased expires the NetComm Hotspot will disconnect their computer from the internet. How do I charge for internet usage on my hotspot?

The hotspot comes with a printer that will issue a username and password as well as tell each customer how much time they have bought. You need to collect the cash from the guest and give them a receipt. You can also set up the NetComm Wireless Hotspot to charge by credit card. This means the guest just enters their credit card details, selects how much time they want to buy and they will be connected. The cash is then forwarded to you from the credit card merchant ( a merchant account with SecurePay Australia is required)

How secure is my hotspot?

NetComms Hotspots use in-built Layer 2 security, which means that it prevents each user from accessing another users data traffic and PC. Built-in SSL login provides safe and secure authentication protection at all times. Whats more, VPN pass through allows your customers to securely connect to their own office network and to use their office applications and get their work emails whilst at your site, perfect for business travelers.

How much coverage will I get from my Hotspot?

A standalone device will cover up to 150 metres. To increase this coverage range for larger sites or those with complex infrastructure, the hotspot range can be extended through the use of wireless boosters as well as internal and external antennas.

Boosters

NetComm internal booster units are available to amplify the wireless signal. These devices connect directly onto one of the antenna ports of the hotspot and work to increase the range. Booster units can only be connected to the hotspot and not to an external antenna.

Antenna

NetComm offer antennas which can be used in conjunction with a hotspot. Antennas are for external use and are designed to be wall mounted in an outdoor area to spread the range of the wireless signal.
